Game Drives
There, in a sanctuary dedicated to orphaned baby elephants, a wonderful team of Kenyans looks after about fifty young elephants, working gently to help reintroduce them into their natural environment. All day long, these caregivers follow the elephants through the park and reunite with them in the evening. It’s especially during these times (early morning too) that we got to meet the “little ones.” An incredibly moving experience—these are still African elephants (!), even if they’ve been somewhat accustomed to humans. And the environment constantly reminds you that you're not in a zoo—large Female elephants are never too far away.

Have you ever fed an elephant with a bottle? Have you ever blown into its trunk so it can remember your scent? In short, have you ever whispered into an elephant’s ear? It’s a moving experience—believe me—especially when it takes place right in the heart of Nairobi, Kenya with a field headquarters in Kaluku bordering Tsavo East National Park.
